The International Board for Certification of Group Psychotherapists Mission Statement

The IBCGP website defines quality for therapeutic groups by clearly outlining the characteristics of successful groups, providing resources and information to help run (or choose) a group and explaining the importance of earning the CGP designation.  The website accomplishes this mission by:

• Promoting the standards of group practice, education and professional accountability;

• Differentiating the characteristics between trained and untrained professionals who lead therapeutic groups;

• Offering to the public a searchable database of CGPs according to locale so that website visitors can choose a CGP near them;

• Offering clinicians a searchable database of CGP supervisor/consultants by locale for those seeking to meet the certification standards for the practice of group psychotherapy; and

• Providing multimedia testimonials from professionals who have earned the CGP and realized direct benefits of that choice (career advancement, practice growth, etc.).
