CONTINUING EDUCATION

CERTIFIED GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPISTS (CGPS): Institute and Conference events chairsmay be counted towards recertification requirements for the National Registry of Certified Group Psychotherapists on a one hour per one continuing education credit basis. Please note that all continuing education credit events for CGP recertification must be in group psychotherapy.

PHYSICIANS: The American Group Psychotherapy Association (AGPA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The AGPA designates this educational activity for a maximum of 45 hours in category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician Recognition Award.  Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

PSYCHOLOGISTS: AGPA is approved by the American Psychological Association to offer continuing education for psychologists. AGPA maintains responsibility for the program.  Up to a maximum of 45 hours.  Courses offered by APA-approved providers are accepted towards MCEP credit starting January 1, 2002.  Your certificate will contain the APA language only, and you will be responsible for reporting your own attendance and submitting your own course-reporting fees to MCEP. SOCIAL WORKERS: AGPA, is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB provider #1064) through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. AGPA maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers will receive up to 45 continuing education clock hours in participating in this course.  An approval from this Board is  applicable in the following states: Alaska, Arkansas, District of Columbia, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. The Institute and Conference also meet the qualifications for up to a maximum of 45 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.  Provider #PCE1377. Applications have been submitted for review to the appropriate Social Work Boards in the following states:  Louisiana, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Massachusetts, Nevada, and Utah.

NURSES: AGPA is approved by the CA Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number 10420, for up to a maximum of 45 contact hours (BRNH’s). This activity has been submitted to the New York State Nurses Association’s Council on Continuing Education, which is accredited by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation, for approval of contact hours.  If approved, the approval from this Board carries reciprocity to other states that accept ANCC approval.

COUNSELORS: AGPA is recognized by the National Board of Certified Counselors to offer continuing education for National Certified Counselors. We adhere to the NBCC Continuing Education Guidelines. Provider #5675.  Participants may earn up to a maximum of 45 hours. An application has been submitted to the Ohio Counselor and Social Work Board for review.

ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE COUNSELORS: AGPA has submitted an application to be reviewed for NAADAC approval renewal. NAADAC approved courses are accepted in many states. An application has been submitted for review to the appropriate Alcohol and Drug Abuse Boards in the following states: Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, and Nevada.

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPISTS: Institute and Conference events meet the qualifications for up to a maximum of 45 hours of continuing education credit for MFCCs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.  Provider #PCE1377. NBCC approval is accepted by the Marriage and Family Therapy Boards in the following states:  Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Oregon. An application has been submitted for review to the appropriate Marriage and Family Therapy Boards in the following states:  Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Nevada.

CREATIVE ARTS THERAPISTS: Applications have been filed to offer continuing education credits for creative arts therapists (art, music, dance, psychodrama, drama, poetry).

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS: Participation in the 2003 Institute and Conference continuing education events carries Continuing Education Units on a one unit per 10 contact hour basis (fractional units may be obtained).
