Because everyone
wants to belong. We are always in groups or avoiding groups.
Groups-and group dynamics-are everywhere. We will illustrate this
ides by examining the groups on three popular television shows: The
Sopranos, Friends, and The West Wing. We will highlight underlying
group processes including leadership, rivalry, projection, and
scapegoating. Moreover, are Tony Soprano or Janice, Rachel or Ross,
Leo or CJ, or any of the others diagnosable? Should they be in group
therapy? How would we manage our countertransferential feelings with
such colorful characters?
