The Management of Dynamic Process in DBT Skills Groups: How to
Stay Skills-Focused While Surfing on a Sunami of Affect

The
DBT Skills group is an integral part of a DBT treatment. The task
of
the group leader is to teach the four core DBT Skills. The
participants task is to learn the skills and to practice them in
group
and
begin implementing them into their lives. The group's task is
often compromised by the participant's dysregulated behavior and
their
wish
to make the task of the group more process the skill learning.
The
leader's need to manage the dysregulation while holding to the
task. The workshop will review the basic tenents of a DBT treatment
with a
special focus on the group and the four DBT skills. Problems in
group
management will be an additional focus.
