Workshop 63
Authorizing Women: Analysis of the “Bitch” Transference

Chairs:

Christine Kieffer, Ph.D., ABPP, FAGPA, Private Practice, Chicago, Illinois

Jeffrey Roth, M.D., FAGPA, Private Practice, Chicago, Illinois

Open to participants with less than four years of group psychotherapy experience

Deep ambivalence about women’s power and authority pervades our culture and thus shapes psychoanalytic theories of development and therapeutic action.  This workshop will examine transferences to female and male leaders as they unfold within a group.  Implications for the group-as-a-whole will also be examined.
