Six Cameras in Search
of a Group: The Use of the Movie “Group” as a Resource in the
Training of Group Therapists
Chair:
Robert Berley, Ph.D., CGP, Adjunct Faculty, Seattle
University, Seattle,
Washington
Most available video materials tend to be limited in their technical
sophistication, range of affect and complexity of characterization.
This workshop will use a recently produced cinema verite depiction
of a time limited women's group as an instructional resource. By
viewing the movie in the context of specific themes in the training
of a group leader, we will examine our own theories of group
practice, models of training, and priorities in the development of
the nascent therapist's skill.
