Caring for the
Caregivers in a Traumatized School Community – A Model Intervention
Plan Gleaned from Experiences Post-9/11

Group protocols
will be presented that were used by a community agency (Adventures
in Teaching and Counseling) over the past two years to address the
needs of traumatized administrators, guidance staff, family workers
and teachers working in public elementary and middle schools in
close proximity to Ground Zero and in schools which housed evacuees.
Participants will be invited to share their experiences with
secondary traumatic stress, vicarious traumatization and compassion
fatigue, and issues relates to addressing these with adults in
school settings.
