Integrative Approaches to Cultivating Mentalization with
Professionals in Psychiatric Treatment

Suicide is an
important mental health and public health problem worldwide. Cross
cultural studies show there are more similarities than differences
in suicide among various cultures. Use of group therapy with
adolescents has been described as treatment of choice. The presenter
will share with you her clinical experience using large-scale
“Debriefing Group” in an urban high school in Iran.

Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1. Demonstrate how
to use group dynamics to set norms with adolescents.
2. Demonstrate creative and non-traditional approach to foster
communication and expression of emotions in a non-threatening and
non-stigmatizing way.
3. Detect high-risk behaviors among students.
4. Demonstrate resiliency and re-build hope.
5. Demonstrate use of western psychology with different cliental
population.
