Group Therapist and
Caregiver: Dynamic Duo Interplay
Presenter:
Dorree Lynn, Ph.D., Private
Practice, Washington, DC
An estimated 44
million Americans serve as caregivers of family members. This
session, based on my book, When the Man You Love Is Ill: Doing The
Best For Your Partner Without Losing Yourself will focus on the
needs of all caregivers in a couple partnership. Pragmatic
information and understanding of both patient and caregiver dynamics
will be addressed. Focus will be on reaching out to support and
therapy groups. Differences in these groups and the role of the
group leader will be addressed.
Learning Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1. Evaluate their
primary strengths and challenges.
2. Analyze and utilize information to function more effectively in
their roles.
3. Identify which groups and group leaders’ types are most helpful
in their particular situation.
