Exploring Male Intimacy

Utilizing clinical
experience, drama techniques and structured exercises, the
presenters will explore fears of male intimacy. Specifically, how
fears, stereotypes and longings affect straight and gay clinicians
working with gay and straight, bisexual, transgender and questioning
(GSBTQ) clients. The presenters will lead workshop participants in
exercises, group process and discussion of their own experiences
with male intimacy in their clinical work. Applications of these
themes to group therapy will be explored.

Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1. Define how their own experiences as men affect their clinical
work, and endeavor to make these experiences more conscious in
working with male clients.
2. Recognize the fear of intimacy and longing for intimacy in
working with male clients.
3. Explain the influence of homophobia in working with men of all
sexual orientations in group settings.
