The Psychodynamics of Power and Politics in School Settings

This workshop will focus on the concepts and methodology of group dynamics applicable to school settings. Resistances to these methods will be role played by group members and discussed. Group members will be encouraged to suggest ways of resolving resistance. Handouts will be distributed.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:
1. Explain the effects of positive and negative dynamics in class settings.
2. Create workshops for teachers that will help teachers develop effect learning environments.
3. Understand that a particular behavior may have more than one meaning depending on the child who displays it.

4. Scapegoats are often led into that position, depending on the needs of the group-as-a-whole.
5. How to create a cohesive working class group.
