Promoting Affect Development within an Integrated Model of Group Psychotherapy

After surveying existing models of group psychotherapy which conceptualize the group process in terms of the individual, interpersonal and group-as-a-whole dynamics, the workshop will demonstrate the therapist's role in promoting and exploring the expression of affect in each of the stages of the group's life cycle.

The attendee will be able to:

1. identify the primary affects of focus during the stages of group development.
2. Utilize an integrated model of group psychotherapy in making meaningful interventions.
3. Promote affect development within a developmental perspective.
