The Mentorship Experience: The Hope and Promise of Successful Group Leaders

Open to participants with more than ten years of group psychotherapy experience

 

This workshop will examine the concept of mentorship. The leader will discuss benefits mentees can receive from the knowledge, wisdom and experience of mentors in the field of group therapy. Roles of mentors, current theories, and implications for the AGPA membership and training will be part of the discussion. The leader's experience as both a mentor and mentee will be highlighted.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to: 

1. Distinguish among the terms mentor, coach, supervisor, role model, and therapist
2. Apply the basic principles of establishing a successful mentoring relationship
3. Design a mentoring contract that is specific to the needs and goals of both parties.
4. Evaluate their own history of being mentored and/or mentoring.
