Mindfulness: The Work of Healing Trauma

Structured as a contemplative retreat,
this institute is an opportunity for therapists to develop a new
paradigm integrating neuroscience and clinical work. In the context
of breakthrough research in the field of interpersonal neurobiology,
we will explore the use of mindfulness, poetry and group process in
the treatment of trauma.

Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1. Revise our paradigm for understanding and treating PTSD based on
new research in the field of interpersonal neurobiology and its
convergence with ancient contemplative traditions.
2. Review research on mindfulness meditation, secure attachment and
neural integration.
3. Establish and cultivate the practice of “moment to moment”
awareness through mindfulness practice.
4. Explore and experience the use of poetry as integrated into
trauma recovery.
