Use of Focal Conflict Theory in a Role Training Group
Presenter: Cecelia Winkelman, Ph.D., Associate Professor,
Australian Catholic University, Melbourne, Australia
Drawing on both psychodynamic and psychodramatic theory, the paper
examines the tension between the trainees' desire to develop
themselves as therapists and the defensiveness that may block such
learning. Concepts such as tolerating uncertainty may conflict with
the trainees' wish to be helpful.
