Merle Goldberg, M.S.W.
For almost 30 years, Merle Goldberg has presented at AGPA on a wide range of traditional psychodynamic as well as action techniques. Her presentation highlights the work of Dr.
J.L. Moreno focusing on traditional pyschodrama, sociometry, and sociodrama. Psychodramatic techniques certainly focus on past and present but also look continuously toward the future with spontaneity, creativity, possibility, and hope. As we look toward the millennium, the group will come together to explore theory and techniques that can be integrated into ongoing psychodynamic practice. By experiencing the power of the group in a somewhat different way, we can combat burnout, enhance our own creativity and spontaneity, reestablish and strengthen bonds with old and new colleagues, and perhaps reawaken old or new dreams for the millennium. Ms. Goldberg is in private practice in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Modern Group Treatment is rooted in emotions informing intellect. The effort is to free the psychic apparatus from encumbrances that prevent it from gaining access to the emotional self and utilizing feelings to deal effectively with reality. The use of such tools as the observing the ego bridging, immediacy, joining, and insulating is also explored.
